New coach of Maribor is Sergej Jakirović
He played for Slovenian club Korotan Prevalje and national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Last time he was coach of Croatian club HNK Gorica.
The last coach of Maribor was former captain of Slovenian national football team Darko Milanič. He came to Maribor in 2008. Under his leadership Maribor won 5 championships and qualified for EUFA Champions League once. During this time he left for a while and was also coach of Sturm Graz and Leeds United. In March 2020 he stepped down because of bad results.
Maribor also has a new director of football. This is Oliver Bogatinov, who was born in Jesenice and has Macedonian roots. He played for many Slovenian clubs and also has experience as coach. His predecessor was top scorer of Slovenian national football team Zlatko Zahovič who came to NK Maribor in 2007.
The assistant of Milanič was a former national team player Saša Gajser, but Bogatinov didn't choose him.
Maribor is currently fourth in Slovenian league and Olimpija is leading.
